Howard Stern Attacks Oprah Winfrey, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith

Shock jock Howard Stern decided that he would continue to make his money by attempting to punch out the shine of Will Smith and his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. In a recent segment of his radio show, Stern went out of his way to throw some pretty nasty jokes at the Smith family, focusing primarily on their recent interview with Oprah Winfrey. Apparently, the Smith family financial success is too much for Howard, as he worked hard to make the family into a joke.

Stern focused on Jada's admission that she and Will have a "marriage business plan," and seemed to argue that the Smiths pretend to have a perfect marriage and family, all as a front for the American public. He even accused Oprah of "kissing their asses," and agreeing with everything they say, even though Oprah has never had children herself.

The most interesting attack on the Smith family by Stern was issued when Will described his relationship with Jada by saying "I do what she say." Stern accused Smith of trying to sound ignorant in order to relate to a hip hop audience. Of course, Stern's sidekick, Robin, co-signed on everything he said. That seems to be her only job, and she does it quite well.

With regard to Howard Stern's attack on Jada Pinkett Smith and her husband, I am not sure if it was called for. The Smith family is one of the most beloved families in the African American community, serving as symbols of hope and prosperity for a community that is dying to see a healthy black family in action. Our airwaves are riddled with stories of women like Keisha Cole, who have family members fighting drug addictions, or Chili from TLC, the beautiful single black woman who swears she can't even find a good boyfriend.

Most African Americans, in my opinion, are fully aware of the fact that the Smiths are likely not as perfect as they appear to be: Rumors of infidelity sprinkle across the Internet, and I can only imagine that neither Will nor Jada is always the perfect spouse. But they are the second tier of Barack and Michelle Obama, which is why people love them so much.

Stern is correct to remind us that Oprah Winfrey, a woman who has never raised children of her own, might not be the best person to give advice on child-rearing. But for some reason, the world listens to Oprah and admires her more than nearly any other celebrity on the planet. Also, unlike Howard Stern, Winfrey succeeds with positive energy instead of negative: you don't see her attacking others on her show, and she doesn't even respond to critics. It may be our fault for putting Oprah Winfrey, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett on pedestals, but the truth is that they are our great American heroes and Howard Stern won't get brownie points from anyone by attacking such a cherished group of people. But yes, Howard, we know much of this isn't real; thanks for pointing out the obvious.

Mathew Knowles: Woman Alleges Beyonce's Dad Fathered Her Baby

A woman is 'ringing the alarm' on music mogul Mathew Knowles and claiming he is the father of her child.

According to TMZ, Alexsandra Wright filed a paternity suit against Beyonce's father/manager in Los Angeles County Superior Court.

Wright, who lives in L.A., is currently six months pregnant. She is in her late 30s and reportedly in the name-branding business.

Wright has reportedly called on high powered attorney Neal Hersh, who is also negotiating Lamar Odom in his post-nuptials agreement with Khloe Kardashain, to represent her in the case.

Knowles, 58, quit his Xerox sales job to manage the R&B girl group, Destiny's Child, who later became one of the biggest selling music acts in the history of music. He has been married to former hair salon owner and 'House of Dereon' creator Tina Knowles for nearly thirty years. The couple's two daughters are singer/actresses Beyonce and Solange Knowles.

BV Newswire reached out to Knowles' publicist Priscilla Clarke -- who also reps Omarosa Manigault-Stalworth, Marques Houston and The O'Jays -- over the weekend. She hasn't responded.

Beyonce: Causing Controversy Within the Caribbean Region

Where's the international love for Beyonce Knowles?

Apparently the pop sensation continues to catch flack and be at odds with the global community despite canceling her recent.

This time, Forbes magazine's top-earning celebrity is causing an uproar within the Caribbean region due to her upcoming concert on Feb. 18 at the Trinidadian carnival in Trinidad and Tobago.

Being the proactive artist that she is, the 'Single Ladies' singer also has a show scheduled in Port-of-Spain on the same day as the carnival, which is sponsored by local and government owned phone company TSTT. The company is also co-owned by global telecoms giant Cable & Wireless.

Although the average price range for carnival show tickets range from $71 to $253, local show organizers are apprehensive that the event will put a hole in the pockets of "all carnival stakeholders" between the country's two cell phone providers and wash out Soca music in support of pop music.

"We have nothing against Beyonce," says the former chief of the Caribbean Prestige Foundation Gregory Fernandes. "We are just saying that it is insensitive to bring her at this time. It will affect all carnival stakeholders." According to BBC News, a dissatisfied reader lashed out in a column for the Trinidad & Tobago Express, expressing the mobile giant's decision to promote pop superstars as opposed to local talent.

"Our culture of carnival is on the way out," the reader proclaimed. "What used to be the greatest show on earth is playing second fiddle to another people's culture."

To dispute the outraged reader's criticism, TSTT officials claim that they are more than willing to support local soca gigs and artists. In fact, the company was on board to sponsor popular carnival concert, Soca in B-Square, before canceling due to the unavailability of Soca superstar Machel Montano.

However, rival mobile phone provider Digicel has decided to go against TSTT's grain and support local talent instead of notable international stars such as the 10-time Grammy Award winner.

In speaking with Trinidad Guardian newspaper, Digicel's communications manager, Penny Gomez, revealed that his company was originally asked to fork over $1 million for Beyonce's appearance fee, not to mention the additional cost of the concert's production, which could've amounted up to $5.2 million.

"We have an appreciation for what is local, so we have not sought to go overseas," she declared, noting that the company didn't have "a limitless public purse from which to draw."

A spokesperson for TSTT commented on Digicel's claims stating that the company doesn't have Digicel's limitations of being unable to support international and local concerts, and their own plan to host the Beyonce show was solely based on a "sound business decision."

Kandi Burruss: 'Real Housewives' Star Ex-Fiance Dead After Club Brawl

By Bridget Bland Oct 3rd 2009

'Real Housewives of Atlanta' star Kandi Burruss' ex-fiance Ashley 'A.J.' Jewell was killed after a fight outside popular Atlanta strip club, The Body Tap, late Friday night.

He was rushed to Piedmont Hospital, where he later died.

Atlanta Police Lt. Keith Meadows confirmed, "It appears he was involved in an altercation in the parking lot and received a severe blow to the head."

Meadows said that the police have developed a person of interest in the case, adding, "we've made contact with him to question him about the incident."

The Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter's publicist, Lisa Nelson, confirmed to WSBTV.com that Burruss was "stunned and speechless" and that "the family is asking for privacy during this very difficult time."

Burruss, a former member of the platinum '90s R&B group Xscape, recently revealed that she and Jewell split.

The couple, who were engaged earlier this year, have chronicled their relationship on the Bravo reality show 'The Real Housewives of Atlanta.'

Burruss is also currently raising Jewell's twin daughters.

"AJ's murder is horrific, not only for his family, including the six beautiful children he is leaving behind, but also for Kandi, who obviously still loves him despite their broken engagement," Atlanta-area entertainment journalist Isoul Harris, who has a professional friendship with Burrus told BV Newswire today. "Also, this is another case of senseless violence that's not only rampant in Atlanta, but all over the country."

UPDATED, 11:33 a.m.: Police told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution newspaper that they have charged Frederick Richardson with voluntary manslaughter in the beating death of Jewell. Richardson is currently hospitalized at Grady Memorial Hospital for injuries sustained in the fight. He will be jailed once released by medical staff. Though the cause of the fight is still unknown, police confirmed that witnesses were cooperating.

'It's a great thing that a suspect has been arrested in this case," Harris added. "It surely brings a little comfort to his friends and family."

In the meantime, Burruss, who's a single mother of one daughter, took to Twitter.com early Saturday morning to break her silence about the tragic loss. "I'm bout 2 give my swollen eyes some rest now. I just wanted to say thanks 2 everyone for their prayers. I gotta get up & go 2 my uncle's funeral. I could never in a million years imagine this happening."

The Atlanta native, who also changed her Twitter profile picture to a flick of her and Jewell, ask fans to remember Jewell leaves behind six children. "Please pray for AJ's children, that's who im the most concerned 4. Im just in one of those moods where I dont wanna talk, I dont wanna b held & told its gonna b ok. I just wanna cry myself 2 sleep, alone."

"Right now, she is just trying to wrap her head around the fact that he is gone," Harris concluded.
