CPP To Elect Flag Bearer In September
The Convention People’s Party (CPP) will elect a flag bearer for the 2012 elections on September 30, 2011.
Prior to this, the party will hold a congress to elect national officers on April 30, 2011.
A statement signed by the National Chairman, Mr Ladi Nylander, said before the congress to elect national officers, there would be ward, constituency and regional levels elections.
“Details of logistics and time lines for such organisation, as well as rules and procedures of engagement for contestants will be communicated to the rank and file of the party through party structures not later than Wednesday, January 26, 2011”, it said.
It urged the Central Committee of the party to fine tune and finalise amendments to the proposed CPP Constitution as presented, for ratification at the next National Delegates Congress.
The statement also called on regional party leadership to deal comprehensively with specific issues aimed at enhancing the smooth and effective running of party machinery at the constituency levels.
It added that these were issues which had been brought to the attention of and ratified by the Central Committee.
It said the CPP affirmed its absolute commitment towards a united and indivisible Nkrumahist grouping and urged the party leadership to consider the work with all groupings as one that is urgent.
“That CPP affirms its absolute commitment towards a united and indivisible Nkrumahist grouping; and hereby urges party leadership to work with a sense of urgency with all groupings through a Joint National Merger Committee towards and; within the shortest possible time, a Joint National Delegates Congress in accordance with the Nkrumahist Parties Accord signed on October 16, 1997,” it said.
