Car Safety During Pregnancy

Confused about whether to wear a safety belt while riding in a car?

Puzzled about the safety of your yet to be born baby and yourself?

Then don’t panic. The answer for your worry is a definite yes, so properly wear your seat belt.

It is very important that you wear your seat belts to protect yourself from an injury; otherwise riding a car without seat belt can also cause injury to your baby.

It has been seen in auto accidents that most foetal injuries and deaths result from the woman being injured or killed. Always remember that if you protect yourself from injury, you also protect your baby.

Many women are worried that the seat belts can squeeze the baby living inside their body which can lead to a miscarriage.

However, there is no such evidence that can prove that seat belt wearing result in foetal injury; no matter how serious the collision is.

Remember that your baby is well cushioned inside your body, surrounded by amniotic fluid and your body organs.

A properly worn seat belt is his best protection, so you need not worry at all.

Make sure you always wear a lap shoulder belt whenever you ride in your car.

Place the lap portion of the belt underneath your abdominal bulge, as low on your hips as possible.

Mind it that you never put the lap shoulder belt above your abdomen area. Make it possible to position the shoulder portion of the belt between your breasts.

Do not slip the belt off your shoulder. Adjust both parts as snugly as possible.

Remember that fastening a seat belt around yourself and using a car seat belt for your baby after his birth are important ways to protect both of you from fatal accidents and as well as from minor injuries.
