Mumuadu Communities urged to observe customary practices

Osino, July 23, GNA-Osabarima Osampanin II, chief of Akyem Osino, in the Fanteakwa District, on Friday urged Mumuadu communities to observe and maintain the traditional practices bequeathed to them by their ancestors.

Osabarima Osampanin, who is also the head of Mumuadu communities in the District, was speaking at a grand durbar to mark the climax of a week-long celebration of the 'Ohumkan' festival.

The festival symbolizes the end of famine and arrival of bumper harvest.

He mentioned some practices, which should be done away with to include illegal entry of the virgin forest by chain-saw operators and noise-making drumming during certain periods.

The Chief observed that the failure to observe long-standing customary practices tended to bring untold hardships to the communities and urged traditional heads to help to bring sanity to their areas.
